Born in Bogot\u00e1 in 1958, he is a distinguished Colombian composer, flutist, and educator, recognized for his influential role in post-serial music. His remarkable career has been honored with prestigious awards such as the National Composition Prize from Colcultura in 1994 and 1995, as well as the National Composition Prize granted by the Colombian Ministry of Culture in 2006. He has also received international recognition, including the Jonathan Durington Student Composition Awards in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Pulido was guided in his musical development by eminent mentors such as Jes\u00fas Pinz\u00f3n Urrea and Franco Donatoni.<\/p>

Since 1990, he has played an active role as a board member of the now-defunct Bogot\u00e1 International Festival of Contemporary Music, even serving as artistic director on several occasions. In 2006, the Concert Hall of the Luis \u00c1ngel Arango Library in Bogot\u00e1 dedicated a monographic concert to him as part of the \u201cPortraits of a Composer\u201d series. His versatile repertoire includes chamber music, solo instrumental works, and orchestral compositions.<\/p>

In addition, for over 40 years, he was a prominent member of the Bogot\u00e1 Philharmonic Orchestra, where he not only premiered several of his own works but also performed as a soloist. After the passing of Donatoni, a tribute concert was held in Mexico, where Luis Pulido\u2019s piece Gu\u00e1charo was selected as an homage. His valuable academic work includes 25 years of teaching at the Universidad de los Andes, where his students have earned international recognition.<\/p>

Pulido has been awarded the National Composition Prize on three occasions, highlighting his outstanding contribution to the Colombian musical landscape. His compositions have transcended borders, being performed in countries such as Panama, Ecuador, and Hungary (Budapest).
